Hi Alessandra- when you’re filling out the membership form, just mark your income level and include the associated deposit when mailing the form in to NYCCAH. And you can expect to get a range of different kinds of vegetables including (depending on the harvest yield):
arugula
beets
bok choi
broccoli
cabbage
carrots
chile peppers
cilantro
collard greens
corn
cucumber
dill
endive
eggplant
garlic
green beans
kale
kohlrabi
leeks
lettuce
mesclun
mustard greens
onions
parsley
peas
potatoes
radishes
spinach
squash
sweet peppers
swiss chard
tomatoes
turnips
zucchini
and
many more…

Once you become a member, we’ll soon let you in on the other shares (fruit, eggs, etc). And I saw your other question about a wait list, but we haven’t had to make one yet so send in your membership form when you get a chance.

What will I get (types or vegetables) per share and how do I qualify for sliding scale cost? I am not on food stamps but my income is below $35,000.

Hi! Yes, we are offering flower and egg shares this year. Once folks have signed up for vegetable shares we will send them a form for the other shares being offered this year. Note: you have to purchase a half or full share of vegetables in order to purchase other shares (including fruit and egg).

F) If for some reason you are unable to begin the membership process but want to keep in touch with BRG, you can apply in writing and pay a subscriber’s rate for the grotto newsletter, the Carbide Dump. This ensures that you will continue finding out what BRG is up to, and once you have completed your requirements for membership in BRG, your subscriber rate will automatically convert into your dues.
